I have a hard time thinking which one is the worst case of the series: This one or DR1 case 3. I like Celeste's motive, I think it's funny, and she's a nice change to the regretful deaths of the first two killers, but other than that it can fuck right off. It feels like it's setting up Byak to be important, and then he's useless in Ch.3 and Ch.4 before becoming a good dude then. She had a pretty solid alibi, provided wrong information knowing that everybody will trust her, and even managed to turn everyone against you and making your job harder. Really? The ropeway was dumb as fuck, Himiko was annoying, it felt like it took forever. Plus the minigames during trials and overall modes you can play on during and after finishing the game is nice. Trial 1: 6/10 -Nice start, perfect execution, but a little too easy for english users. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Celeste's execution was also perfect. I only included the cases where murders occurred that get solved in said cases. For fans of the murder-mystery visual novel series Danganronpa. This might be interesting if Byak had a code of "do what's most interesting" and stuck to it, but he stops caring after like 2 more chapters. It's tough, but I'd have to say Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair First, let's look at DR2’s cast. The murder plan, the evidence, the closing argument, the despair, the execution(best music), and the motive reveal. Now, you might ask, why also bad point? Trial 1: 6/10. Though, this case has a similar problem like trial 1. First, if it wasn't already bad that the game constantly forced Celestia on your face, making her even more suspicious during the whole justice robot incident, she basically made a slip of tongue that pointed her as a potential suspicious, EVEN BEFORE THE INVESTIGATION. That's it. But somehow, it's great. She was a normal sweet girl who reminded me so much of the first Danganronpa’s protagonist, Makoto Naegi the “Ultimate Hope”-only more confident and more willing to take on the leadership role. I thought she was going to be like Kiyoko and Chiaki as a helpful smart ally, but she never had that intelligence. So why … Esp with the reveal right at the end of the chapter. At first, we think that Komaeda really did killed Twogami because of the reveal but it would be way too obvious right? Trial 4 (9/10): This trial at least is meant to help us forgot the disappointment and disgrace that trial 3 was. The one time Kirigiri doesn't support Naegi, aka the only trial in DR1 where I was confused like an idiot lol. The students debate amongst themselves, using evidence collected during the investigation phase, to determine the culprit in each chapter. It was mostly just an exposition dump by someone I wanted dead followed by Super Saiyan Hajime saving the game. In the trial Korekiyo was smart af, he used one of the smartest killing methods (s e e s a w e f f e c t locking the door by katana turning). Trial 5 (6.5/10): Now a lot of people will hate me for this but...I don't find v3 chapter 5 case that great as I have heard. Z1gZak. Not a fan. It was too easy, so you can guess not only the killer, but pretty much most of the events in this case, so the trial becomes a drag, all you want to do is skip it. 2-4: 5/10, the Tower shit was just a mess but the Nagito mini-arc is really fun. Trial 3: 8/10 Celeste's plan would have been perfect if not for Hifumi. I really liked 3-5, but I think my primary reason was because the mystery element wasn't that difficult, at least in terms of finding out who the culprit it. SAME. Korekiyo's breakdown was great too. Byak is a complete asshole for no reason, he just thinks he's funny. Case 2 - The trial itself was pretty boring, but everything that happened after the voting was amazing. The feels, man. Danganronpa Character Creator. The students debate amongst themselves, using evidence collected during the investigation phase, to determine the culprit in each chapter. Worse: 2-4: I don't really like Gundham's plan to get them out with an easy trial because it wasn't easy at all and had very little incriminating evidence. That's it. Danganronpa Complete 100% 'A' Class Trials (Spoiler free) By imaginee Originally a part of another one of my guides, this guide is a condensed version of 'Danganronpa 100% Complete Walkthrough!' 10 votes, 25 comments. The Danganronpa series is an unappreciated gem, filled with great mysteries and writing. No. And the confusion with the Exsisal. Maki Harukawa- I thought Maki was going to rank higher, but here she is. By using our Services or clicking I agree, you agree to our use of cookies. The trial is also the worst. This one did one thing well: unpredictability. That trust in Kirigiri was the thing Junko could not predict, which led to expose the weakness of the mastermind. I find it disappointing to be honest since I liked the unknown victim and unknown culprit formula, which also inspired me for a chapter 5 idea if we had a new game. Trial 3: 2/10. Good closer. Plus, I think the case is one of the more interesting murder setups, the bamboo sword out the window trick is one of my favorites in the series. The wasted character potential of Ishimaru was sad tho. Even without a clear solution, the game still gives you a lot to think about and a lot of interesting factors in the trial. It actually managed to make me give a shit about Teruteru at the end. So, my problem with this trial, is that it destroyed the surprise of the culprit in the most disappointing way, through a slip of tongue. Should it be Chiaki ? Tbh I just thought it’d look better with him than Chiaki, since it’s more recognisable as to what case I’m talking about. The series has grown massively since its inception in 2010, with three mainline titles, some spin-off games, a bunch of manga adaptations and even a few anime adaptations as well. It's more about taste. Another thing I love are list videos. Also, the Nagito twist, where we thought he was a good guy, when he was actually a crazy psychopath, was one of the biggest twists in DR story. I love this locked room case. 3-5: 0/10, found this really predictable, didn't make me care about the characters, just a really huge letdown. How Sakura has been killed? Because I think it was abit unfair to the students to solve a trial based on lucky since they had a great chance to lose. Peko goes off-the-wall nuts, Shining Justice or whatever the fuck happened, then you get the yakuza duo, and then the crying finally starts. Trial 6: 9/10. The red herring of Tenko commiting suicide, Angie's killer being a separate person etc was well done too. but the reveal that Sayaka was trying to kill Makoto all along. And getting to control Nagito in the final dead room was fun too. Is a good case? Instead we just get foreshadowing for everyone being crazy evil. This one ranks up so high because of two reasons: Peko using a bunch of ridiculous emojis as the serial killer and Peko and Kuzuryu's farewell. There's no way that this wasn't going to be the best trial. Case 4- 8/10. It only drops below 10 outta 10 because of Chiaki and Nagito. Yes, it's cute. Trial 6: 5/10. Trial 1: 5/10. Makoto, Togami, and Kyoko showing up was cool, though. And the motive ties to Gundam's belief strongly, I can appreciate that. Trial 5 (9.5/10): This trial is possible the best and clever case of all Danganronpa games. Trial 1 (9.5/10): Literally, we already face a trial that basically fill you with feels and have one of the biggest twists in the entire DR series: Kaede Akamatsu, the main protagonist, is the killer. Case 5 was the best imo mainly because training trio/Ouma are my favourites, although the ending broke my heart it was super heated all the way through and the end of it broke my heart. This game did a good job introducing new case ideas. I'll list the cases where there is a murder that gets solved. All the other cases, if you look at a certain way, was really obvious. After all, we had Kirigiri with the answers every damn time, making the discussion worthless because why do it? Class Trials (学級裁判 Gakkyū saiban) are the final act of each chapter of the main Danganronpa games. It's fun to go through initially, when you're finding dead bodies everywhere, but it's so easy. As I mentioned before, nothing pointed out Peko as the killer at first and there was no need or anything like dying messages or stuff like that for make it obvious. 3: 1-5/6: While it wasn't counted in the OP, I'm going to. It confused me at first, but now I really like Kaito for somehow pulling the wool over Monokuma's eyes, which I never thought was possible outside of endgame shit. The protag switch to Komaeda was super fun too. Danganronpa: 5 Reasons V3 Ruined The Series (& 5 For Why It Made The Series Better) Danganronpa V3 is the series' most polarizing title. It's great? D2 Case 1- 9/10. Liked the plot twist. This game had crazy high peaks but two mediocre trials mid-game. Case 2- 7/10. DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a game in which classmates are forced to fight each other in order to escape their high school. Trial 1 (9.5/10): Literally, we already face a trial that basically fill you with feels and have one of the biggest twists in the entire DR series: Kaede Akamatsu, the main protagonist, is the killer. The case is solid but... That killer though. 2: 2-2: Still crying. Makoto should have found out what Kyoko did in Chihiro's gender, but he's too much of a little bitch, so everyone had to discover it later. But the case is kinda lame. It's simple. Let's not forgot that Sayaka was really dumb to fight someone much more stronger and athletic than her, instead of just inviting Chihiro, since he was the easiest target. But at least, it wasn't since the beginning like trial 1. It's so time-consuming to figure out how the Virtual World works, even though it's fairly obvious. And overall the first game was more memorable for me. Holy crap there's a lot of characters, and honestly I wanted to see if I could reach 100. Also Gundham only used the death room or whatever the fuck just to find out how the funhouse worked. The only good part about it is her English voice actress losing her accent as she got closer to losing the trial, which is a good touch. Class Trials (学級裁判 Gakkyū Saiban) are the final act of each chapter in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. 3-4: 7/10, felt like it lagged really hard, it took so long to get to the looping world twist. Block room as she's leaving, maybe a minute, max. Case 5- 8/10. But it's not really a murder, 1-6: 9/10, ties the whole game together, hits all the big questions, great twists. Also, the main issue I have with this case is the resolution and the definitive proof against Kirumi, which is the piece of fabric from her gloves. Fro many people, this trial not only is amazing in writing but in emotions aswell. The whole chapter is filled with tension, drama, morality and sad moments where all of this basically crush you on the trial and let's not forgot it have one of the best moments and endings of a case: The password is 11037. Love it. A pro of the DR2 cases is that nothing point out as the culprit at first unless they keep discussing, with no need of slip of tongues, dying messages or something like that. Wow, what a first case. Danganronpa was localized and published in English regions by NIS America in February 2014, and for … 2-3: 8/10, this one is controversial but it was my favorite chapter overall in the series, so I'm biased for it. Trial 4: 7/10 Just ok. Okay, I didn't like this one. The story of Danganronpa V3 is really moving at a pace by the time you reach Class Trial 5, and some serious events are beginning to unfold. The students debate amongst themselves, using evidence collected during the investigation phase, to determine the culprit in each chapter. Class Trials (学級裁判 Gakkyū saiban) are the final act of each chapter in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Trial 1 is a good case. Better: 2-3: I don't think it was that unreasonable for Mikan to do everything in that short a time period. My main issue with this case is because it was quite predictable and the rule of first victim is what will matter haven't be used properly. There are two known volumes, which were written by the creator of the series, Kazutaka Kodaka. Trial 2 (6.5/10): This is better than the first trial, not only for the emotional factor or because of the whole reason behind but because the murdering scheme and some new secrets discovered. 10 character … The misleading Mikan and the disease playing a role. Byakuya came in clutch for this trial, and what Sakura did to help was awesome. I will also add, I think the luck part of it was well-explained. Whats your Favorite Color?, What is your favorite Technologia?, Favorite Drink?. Game: ''Cyber Danganronpa VR The Class Trial''. Trials 5/6: 5/10. But the unbreakable objects and coding changes were interesting and the Kokichi-Gonta dynamic is the peak of V3. Takes place in one confined location, no overnight planning. My favorite case and chapter in all of Danganronpa. While I find the motive rather unfair because it was meant to be only for Fuyuhiko, it has been handled well because we have not only a good trial, full of twists like the sparkling justice and all, but one of the most emotional trial endings of the entire series and then, the development of a character that decided to change and improve theirselves after the sacrifice of their closest friend. I was actually expecting a excitting locked room murder but it ended in the most cliche way of the victim actually committing suicide. I loved them both. Case 6- 8/10. Trial 1 (8/10): I can safely say that DR2 cases are far much more better than DR1 ones and have way more emotional values aswell. The set up and everything was good. Oh, yes. Danganronpa 1 Case 1: 7/10 Case 2: 9/10 (It's a good rise in difficulty, it had a lot of emotional impact to it, Mondo was difficult to figure out (or I wasn't paying attention closely enough), it was just character reveal galore (Toko, Chihiro, Mondo, etc.)) Platform: PS4. I think it's the ending that's the best part. Additionally, his choice of blackened made sense. Of course the ending is sad but the trial could have a far better writting instead of just shoving stuff onto us. Quiz Questions: Whats your Favorite Color?, What is your favorite Technologia?, Favorite Drink? Trial 4: 9/10 really liked this. While we have the message in the first trial that exactly say the culprit's name, this one, once Mondo did that slip of tongue, was already enough to suspect him which...Kind of destroyed the suspense. Case 2- 5/10. Case 3- 7/10. It was well-explained, Nagito clearly understood that the hope that he loved was only truly followed by the traitor, and while he didn't specifically know who the traitor was, he sure knew how to make them the blackened. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a visual novel adventure game developed and published by Spike as the first game in the Danganronpa series. I prefered that they didn't put that message because it made the trial obvious since the beginning but the way they pointed the killer, when he used his talent to discard the evidences was nice and enough. 2-1: 7/10, hits you hard with the Byakuya death and the Nagito twist, 2-2: 5/10, love the Fuyuhiko-Peko dynamic but the trial itself isn't that great. The debate takes place in a courtroom setting, and consists of several debate phases and minigames. Since Kiyo did the seance, it was already kinda suspicious since he was the one who that had the idea yet made a trap to make people look like Himiko was the culprit. Trial 3 (3/10): Sighs This trial...I have so many problems with it. But, overall. I also think DR1 has my favorite ending of the three games, and the middle portions of 1-5 might be my favorite scenes in any game ever. Yes, Gundham did take some (the hammer used as a red herring murder weapon and the wire used to hang Mechamaru) from the Octagon. Trial 2 (8.5/10): Same with DR2 case 1. The super long trials don't work when it feels like there's even less material than the DGR2 cases. The games never fail to lure you in with an intriguing narrative, and a multitude of interesting characters to interact with. The killer was really clever, and a lot of people were interesting red herrings. Just flew off the rails after that. Didn't like the whole video thing. Fantastic introduction case. Twilight Syndrome Murder Case is pointless, Mahiru is made a martyr for almost no reason, the case was fairly easy to solve, and the fucking surfboard case gave me 4 game overs because I ignored the text when searching the room. It constantly blew me away. Great Case. There was a single throwaway line that pointed to Mondo being the killer, and then the one huge obvious giveaway that he does midtrial, as well as the way to destroy the handbooks. The trial was fine by itself, but I feel like it just shit all over the characters the whole damn time. It really sets in the sense of distrust (hah) that you get from the game. Characters from the three main games + Komaru and the Warriors of Hope + The bears + Future Foundation + Demon Hunting victims in DRAE + Some minor characters. I forgot I had all the skills now, so I equipped a whole bunch of them went through the 2nd class trial and got a rank A. Press J to jump to the feed. Chapter 5- 9.5/10. This trial wrecked my emotions about as much as Shuichi's. It relies on everybody being dumb and nobody doing anything that makes sense for a normal person to do. I don't really get why Gonta tried to mercy kill everyone instead of rebuild the world and civilization. Trial 5: 10/10 Quite underrated imo, the suspension between students was very well done. Danganronpa 2's fourth trial sucked. First, let's evaluate some stuff: we had Kaito's sleeve sticking outside the hydraulic press, a video that show Kaito dying and the exisal talking 95% as Ouma during the trial. Danganronpa Zero (ダンガンロンパ/ゼロ, stylized as Danganronpa/Zero) is a light novel that serves as a prequel to Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, featuring events between Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc and the games. It's just sad really. 3-3: 4/10, the seance murder was pretty clever but another perfect-murder-giveaway with a dumb incest twist. I did the first one and almost got a perfect and it changed my rank to A in the results screen. I like the theme of trust where Naegi had to trust Kirigiri- blind trust in his friends is one of Naegi's distinctive characteristics. The first half was repetitive but the second half made up for it in spades. O_O) Case 2: 8/10 Case 3: 6/10 Case 4: 7/10 Case 5: 4/10 (least favorite case because of a lot of either unexplained stuff (Exisal voice changer), poorly explained stuff (Kokichi's script), poor writing bits with Maki, and an obvious killer) Case 6: 6/10. And she knew nothing about the Trial system, because that was explained just after her death. I like Tsumugi's Mastermind gimmick, Keebo's Argument Armament, and the whole WTFery of this game being a TV show. Trial 3 (3/10): This trial...Ugh...Decided to put everything I hated about past cases. Basically, the first part of the trial is about the secret of the program world when you might discover not so much before that both places are connected, killing the unpredictability factor. #3. Danganronpa Class Trials. 3-6: 2/10, hated everything after the reality show twist but the Rantaro case was really solid. Also Hiyoko's death was just brushed off to the side, not even discussing the murder weapon.) Kiyo's breakdown was so creepy and WTFy that I didn't really mind that he killed Tenko for a dumb reason and that he was an incestuous creep. I know it's controversial, but I'm a fan. Average: 7.5/10, honestly feels a tad low. I liked the whole murder scheme. 1-1: 3/10, they gave it away near the start. There are literally only two people who could be either the victim or the culprit, Kaito or Kokichi. This chapter is also a example that you can develop a character in chapter 1 without any issues. And the trial was good. It doesn't exactly flaws but, I just don't find the murder scheme that great. I give it the point only because it made me feel bad for Ryoma when I didn't care about him at all earlier. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, More posts from the danganronpa community. I'm not saying the culprit was obvious, but even with all the other outside interference, it's literally just a 50/50 chance. I also like the trials in the other two games more than the first. I'm okay with crazy Mikan but I wish she instead killed Saionji because she couldn't take the insults anymore and snapped. Nice list. Then, all you needed to do is connect everything to point why Mondo is the culprit, since he was already suspicious enough. This case is just OK. 3: 1-3: Yeah fuck this case. Danganronpa Cases. The whole built about how everything happened and who the killer is, while discussing and denying that Kaede was the killer...The discussion of morality and betrayal, make this case one of the most beautiful trials of the series. Trial 1 (6/10): The first case of the series. It was still good nonetheless. This chapter is also a example that you can develop a character in chapter 1 without any issues. Class Trials (学級裁判 Gakkyū Saiban) are the final act of each chapter in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. My perception ability of space is horrible, so I failed badly, but I still liked the mystery. Originally conceptualized as a standalone chapter, the first Class Trial is fully available in audio drama form and runs for approximately 1h30m. It's simple. It's honestly my favorite of the first game because several things happen: the debut of Genocide Jack, Chihiro's gender reveal, Ishimaru fighting Makoto in Mondo's stead, all good stuff. Mikan's plan was dumb? Trial 5: 10/10. This channel was dedicated to a re-imagination of the April Fool's Danganronpa, DanganRebirth. Another double murder, liked that Hiyoko died. Trial 1: 7/10. Trial 2 (7/10): This trial is good. So I'm going back to the class trials to get rank A on all of them. 2-5: 10/10, this shit was just fantastic. She could probably get there before he left, and enter after he left in about 30 seconds. It gets dragged down hard by 5 and 6 but it honestly felt like a chore and I really only played for completion's sake. And apart from that, I very much enjoyed the case, and the bloody slipper discovery was one of my favorite in the series. Too bad he couldn't have predicted Fuyuhiko being outside their room, so they couldn't get back to the soundproof room and have a very solid alibi but still, a great clever case and a emotional one aswell. Another thing that pisses me off, not only in this trial but in other ones too, is that most of the minigames tell stuff that we already know with not a big effort to discover them, buying way too much time when it could just jump to the point. Liked the shock factor of adding a second murder. At the end of the first killing game, the students have a final trial where they are told to identify the true killer.… The new rules of the areas kind of gave the students too much help because the killer couldn't dispose of evidence. Trial 3: 4/10. The acting for Kokichi and Gonta were the best I'd ever seen for Dangan Ronpa, and it broke my heart to hear Gonta sobbing even though I wasn't a fan of him as a character. For fans of the murder-mystery visual novel series Danganronpa. Kirigiri must have know already. I legitimately cannot say anything bad about it; while some may take it as a pitfall, I don't mean it with that connotation. Case 3: 5/10 (Celeste is pretty easy to figure out, and murder was far more complicated than it had to be (and pretty stupid), and the BTB was in the middle of the trial and not at the end, which felt out of place but Celeste's freakouts were entertaining to witness) Case 4: 7/10 Case 6: 8/10, Danganronpa 2 Case 1: 6/10 Case 2: 8/10 Case 3: 2/10 (Mikan was a really dumb, obvious killer with a plan that doesn't make too much sense, and she goes down like a cartoon villain imo. The logic behind some of the clues was a pain to figure out. Trial 4: 7/10. Good lord did this one break my heart. Just in case the pictures don't make sense: D tier: 1-5 (Bad Ending), 1-5 (Good Ending), 2-3, 3-3. Saddest death ever. It's decent all-around, good table-setter but nothing special. That bad ending was also 10/10, Trial 6: 8/10 Great mastermind..at least in dr1. 186k members in the danganronpa community. Second game have that aftertaste that even though there was killing nobody really dies or something. ;). It's optional if you want to say the why. Trial 3: 6/10. First, because trial 5 was unfair since the mastermind participated and used something that Monokuma did to create a murder scheme and re-use a body and trial 6 is the fight against the mastermind, not exactly a case. Rip wallpaper, throw in side room, that takes maybe 30 seconds. The murder scheme isn't that great but it compensates with the emotional value and unpredictability. Trial 3 (6.5/10): For me, this is the best chapter 3 case of all the games but in the same time, the most disappointing case for me, not necessarily bad. It was a good send off for Gundham and Nekomaru. Average: 5.8/10, this game is really volatile, really good cases offset by some very mediocre one. Really great highs but held back by some poor parts. because of the tension. If they didn't spend so much time getting to the conclusion that the world looped, this would be an easy 9/10 for me. Why she’s ranked #5 best character on my list: Kaede was a breath of fresh air in the game. Let's not forgot, he becomes way too greedy and that was the reason of why his plans failed, because when he killed Angie, he had commited the perfect crime since nothing exactly pointed at him as the culprit but nooo...He had to go for Tenko and tight the rope around his neck more.
